Description

We believe in pushing the boundaries and challenging the norm, so get ready for a wine tour that's anything but ordinary. Indulge your senses as you journey through the Westside Wine Trail, where spectacular views and delicious wines await. Picture yourself amidst rolling volcanic hills, soaking up the sun-soaked vineyards that give birth to exceptional wines.

Our West Kelowna Wine Tour takes you on an adventure through intimate boutique wineries and iconic legacy establishments. Each winery has its quirks and unique attention to detail in the winemaking process. You'll discover names that have made their mark on the British Columbia wine scene, including the playful Mt. Boucherie Estate Winery, the imaginative Jason Parkes properties, and the innovative Frind Estate Winery. Prepare to be captivated by their craftsmanship and passion.

Itinerary

Your tour starts at Frind Estate Winery, the first beachfront winery in North America, on the historic Bennett Property in West Kelowna, British Columbia. The property was purchased in 2017 after Markus Frind sold his company Plenty of Fish and wanted to do something more hands-on. With over 500 years of family farming history, Markus wanted to combine his two passions; technology and agriculture. Today, Frind Family Estate Winery is one of the most advanced wineries in the world, using cutting-edge technology to create truly distinctive wines. Taste their wine while savouring the beachfront and lake view!

Next, we'll take you to the Hatch, which opened in a quirky, renovated tractor shed in 2015 and quickly became a local favourite. Known for the whimsical label artwork, laid-back tasting room experience, and quality award-winning wines, the Hatch has something for everyone.

Next is a guided "OG" tasting of Mt. Boucherie Estate Winery's exceptional wines for the grand finale. Mt. Boucherie started as a grape-growing business in 1968 and soon became one of the largest vineyard holdings in British Columbia, farming 200 acres of land in both the Similkameen and Okanagan Valleys. In 2020, following 20 years of running from a modest tasting room, they opened the doors to a brand-new luxurious wine experience centre. The 15,000-square-foot building features The Modest Butcher Kitchen, a tasting room and multiple private event facilities with some of the best views in the valley.

Finally, we'll visit Black Swift Vineyards. Immerse yourself in winemaking as they share their story, from the challenges and rewards of cultivating vines in the Okanagan Valley to our unique winemaking philosophy. Gain insights into the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into each bottle of Black Swift wine and the benefits and nuances of producing wines in this region.

Beyond wine, the winery takes pride in connecting to the magnificent Black Swift bird, which inspired our name. With every tour booking, they donate $5 to Birds Canada, supporting their
research efforts to unravel the secrets of this incredible yet elusive species.
